Your Hybrid Event Experience
Follow along for what to expect leading up to BUILDEX Amplified and how to get the most out of your experience!
Goals & Objectives
Align your trade show objectives with your organization’s overall sales and marketing goals:
1. Set measurable targets and clear objectives for your team
• How many leads would you like to collect?
• How many meetings would you like to book during and after the event?
• How much are you looking to build your database?
• Are you taking orders at the show?
• What does success mean to you?
2. Communicate your objectives and targets with your team. Incentivize them to hit your targets.
3. Bring your best people!
Booth Design
When planning your exhibit, consider that it is an extension of your brand and/or showroom. Put your best foot forward.
Generating Interest
Brainstorm ways to make your booth an inviting space that will attract the attention of your target audience. Consider working with a graphic design team or collaborate with industry experts like architects and designers. Exhibitors are provided with raw space only. Think about the items below to ensure your booth stands out:
- Walls & Flooring – 8ft backdrop hardwall or pop up wall is required. Flooring is highly recommended. There will be no aisle carpet therefore we recommended you use floor covering to delineate your space.
- Lighting – good lighting is key to making an impact, consider high bays or spotlights to make a dramatic impact.
- Branding & Use of Colour – think about how to integrate branding into your booth design in a meaningful way. Colour is a cost-effective way to create impact. Choose a colour palate to model your booth design around.
- Product Display – do not clutter products into your booth. Think about ease of entry and traffic flow inside your booth.
- Signage – you have three seconds to make an impact. Make sure your message is clear and integrate your signage into the design of your space. Do not clutter your exhibit with too many tag lines and logos.
- Accessibility – design your booth with accessibility in mind. Consider that not all attendees receive information in the same way, and ensure that your display is open and inviting to all.
- Who are you trying to attract? Design your exhibit that will speak to the audience you wish to meet at the event.
NEW BOOTH REGULATIONS THIS YEAR!
Booth Specifications
Full exhibit booth side walls are allowed and encouraged. Side walls must be eight (8) feet in height, no higher, no lower. The back side of these walls need to be fully finished with a neutral colour (ex. white or black) with absolutely no logos or branding.
Exhibitors are provided with floor space only. The booth fee does not include walls of any kind. Each exhibitor is responsible for providing a back wall display that is 8 feet in height to create a partition from each adjoining booth. Back walls that go above eight (8) feet in height need to be approved in advance from your Account Manager. Side walls are encouraged to provide extra separation from your neighbouring booth to complement the AllSecure Standards for Health and Safety.
Sustainability
Your company should factor sustainability into each area of your event plans.
Consider the type of materials being used to construct your booth:
-
Are the materials sustainably sourced?
-
Could you opt for materials that are upcycled instead?
-
Can you reuse this booth for multiple shows over the next few years?
-
Once you are done with your booth, can the elements be recycled or donated?
- Should you consider renting a booth that could be reused across many events?
Consider your booth giveaways, hand-outs, and swag options as well:
-
Sustainable giveaways and swag can be the same cost (or even less) than a bag full of single-use items that are not sustainably created or packaged.
-
Offer digital hand-outs and white papers, using a scannable QR code, instead of paper that often ends up in the recycle bin. This will also allow you to capture the lead information of interested attendees.
Health & Safety
BUILDEX and Informa care strongly about our network of exhibitors, colleagues and industry communities.
Introducing Informa’s AllSecure Standards
It is our top priority to ensure our events are organized in accordance with official government and local authority guidelines, as well as any venue or location specific regulations. Informa has collaborated with association partners and relevant authorities to develop industry wide AllSecure Standards that will raise the bar on safety, hygiene, and high-quality event experiences.
Due to the evolving nature of the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we are committed to announcing our full Health & Safety plan no later than 30 days before the show, in addition to our existing show Health & Safety Regulations.
AllSecure Standards
Marketing
Inviting prospects to engage with your company on social networks and register for the event is a great way to generate a buzz for your company in the weeks leading up to the show.
Maximize Your Presence at the Show!
As an exhibitor you will have access to pre-show marketing materials through a platform called Feathr which includes banners and other graphics to use across all social media channels and email campaigns. Companies should also include any exciting new product announcements, interactive activities, demos or contests that they will be running to entice prospects to visit their booth at the show, too!

Showcase Your Expertise
You have a unique opportunity to be in front of thousands of attendees who have made an investment to attend the event with a project in mind looking for the right companies to work with. Bring your best sales representatives who know your brand, product & business well and can address all questions.
Booth Etiquette
No eating or reading in your booth. You have a short time to make an impact and attendees will avoid interrupting someone who is eating or otherwise occupied. Be alert, attentive and friendly.
Engagement & Takeaways
Think about what action or experience you want attendees who enter your booth to take away. Is that entering a contest, trialing a new product, signing up for your mailing list etc.
Virtual Reality Activations & Demonstrations
Technology and Innovation is revolutionizing our industry. Bring your brand to life with the use of technology. The right activations create immersive environments and allow your next client to engage with your brand in a meaningful way.
Lead Follow Up
Over 50% of leads are missed because they are not followed up on after the show.
How to
Ensure ROI
After the event has wrapped up, make sure you have a detailed follow-up strategy to guide future correspondence to your prospects. The biggest mistake that companies make is not following up on the leads that they received from the show.
Have your say by taking part in the post-show survey. As event organizers we value your opinion and experience from each event. Take a few minutes to fill out the survey and let us know where we are excelling and what areas require more attention.
Hybrid Opportunities
90% of our attendees want to attend face to face events long term, yet 78% of our attendees would also like us to continue to deliver virtual content long term.
The future of our Building, Construction and Property Management events in Canada will be hybrid. We have many opportunities available to our partners that will ensure you are one of the first to engage with our audience before our event even begins. These opportunities are also effective in getting you in front of a broad national audience.
