Yusaku Nomura is a research chemist at Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services. Yusaku received his Ph.D. from Hokkaido University in 2016. After working as a medicinal chemist at a pharmaceutical company for 5 years, Yusaku has been working for Ajinomoto Co., Inc. for 3 years. His current research focuses are on process improvements to capability, purity, and sustainability in oligonucleotide manufacturing with AJIPHASE.

A variety of oligonucleotide therapeutics have been approved in recent years. To meet the demand of large quantities of oligonucleotides, Ajinomoto has developed an original liquid-phase synthesis technology, AJIPHASE®. This technology is being developed to provide a more sustainable and environmentally friendly solution for oligonucleotide synthesis. During this presentation, we will report on an improved process that provides high-purity oligonucleotides and successfully reduces the environmental impact of organic solvent use.
