Hydrophobic peptides act as an important part in functional identification of membrane proteins and in peptide drug development. However, as they show by nature high aggregation and low solubility in solvents, as well as tend to form secondary structures during synthesis, the corresponding research is greatly restricted. Here, we summarize how new techniques and methods drive changes in the field of hydrophobic peptides synthesis.

Dr. Jiazhen Liang, a senior scientist in GenScript Biotech, majored in peptide medicinal chemistry. After graduating in 2022, Dr. Jiazhen Liang worked at Asymchem, and was mainly engaged in process development and optimization, as well as GMP production of peptides. Joining GenScript in 2023, Dr. Jiazhen Liang has specialized in the synthesis of complex peptides, including hydrophobic peptides and long peptides.
