Which technologies will have the biggest impact in the next decade?

What impact do you think each of the following technologies will have on your
field in the next 10 years? (From '1 = No Impact' to '5 = Huge Impact')

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is the technology respondents predict will have the biggest impact in the next decade, with 77% rating the impact as 'significant' or 'huge'. Other technologies mentioned but not rated include 3D printing, blockchain, CRISPR, microfluidics and automation.

In which area do you think AI will have the biggest impact in the next 10 years?

Respondents predict the impacts of AI will touch every phase of drug development, from understanding mechanisms of disease (20%), to generating novel drug candidates (13%) and then validating and optimizing those candidates (15%), and then optimizing the design and recruitment of clinical trials (14%).

What is the biggest benefit you think emerging technologies
will have on the industry in the next 10 years?

Emerging technologies are expected to have huge benefits on every aspect of the the pharma industry in the coming decade. However, it is the increased innovation (39%) and speed (35%) that respondents are most excited about. Interestingly, only 14% chose 'reduced cost' - the biggest challenge the industry is facing.
